Carrick Swan GAA Note
Many of Carrick Swan’s under age teams have been in action during the week. Our under 10 hurlers played friendly games against Cahir and Knockavilla, playing two very exciting games with great skill on show from all involved. Our under 12’s travelled to play Cahir on Saturday morning where they had another good win. This team has qualified for knock-out stage of go-games competition where we wish them well. Our under 14 hurlers played St.Marys on The Green on Monday evening of last week where they played some good hurling to win an exciting game while our under 16 hurlers continued their good start to championship with a clear cut win in Killenaule. This team will play Moyle Rovers in next round in Davin Park on Friday evening next. Our minor hurlers were defeated by a very strong Mullinahone team last week.
The failure to replay our south senior hurling semi-final against Mullinahone has been well documented in local and national press and on local radio during the week. Carrick Swan club remains steadfast in our belief that we have acted honourably at all times and made whatever efforts we could to find a solution to the impasse between club and board. We firmly believe that we could have been facilitated and it is most unfortunate that south and county championships will now be held up for some time. We also believe that sanctions against us by board are not justified and at time of writing we are due to meet hearings committee on Wednesday evening of this week in first stage of appeals process.
Our juvenile disco on Friday night last was most enjoyable for all in attendance. Admission was free on the night as a gesture of thanks for the great support we continue to receive from those around us. We thank all those who helped out on the night and we look forward to seeing all our regulars and their friends at next month’s disco.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 3,15,23 &28. We had no jackpot winner and one match 3 winner, Chrissie McCarthy Glenview, who wins €200. We thank you for your continued support and welcome new entries at any time. Weekly entry fee is €2 which can be paid to any committee member or any of our lotto promoters.
Sponsorship cards for our walk to Faugheen should be returned with remittance as soon as possible. Walk was deferred from Sunday last due to unforeseen circumstances and will now take place on Sunday 21stAugust. We look forward to your participation.
Those who have ordered tickets for the Tipperary / Dublin All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final on Sunday 14th August must collect and pay for tickets by Thursday of this week.
Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the family of John Cass, Carrick-Beg, who died during the week.
All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following week’s press.
