Carrick Swan GAA

Carrick Swan senior hurlers will play Killenaule in first round of south championship on Tuesday evening of this week in Kilsheelan at 6.30 p.m. in a repeat of last year’s final. We wish the team and their mentors the best of luck in the championship as it progresses.

Carrick Swan minor footballers had a good win over St.Patrick Gaels on Sunday morning last running out winners 4-09 to 2-09 having trailed early in game. Our under 16 footballers were defeated by Ardfinnan in championship game played on The Green on Thursday evening last. This game was fixed for Davin Park but as this night is designated for use by Davin Club we played on The Green following agreement from the Ardfinnan club whom we thank for re-arrangement.

The first round of under 14 Feile hurling was played last week and we lost out to Moyle Rovers 4-05 to 1-08 after a keenly contested game. Improvement should come as this was our first competitive fixture of the year and we had to field without a number of injured players. This team begins their football championship on Monday evening of this week when they travel to play Killenaule. Our under 10 footballers took part in football blitz in Monroe on Saturday morning last where they played some great football and enjoyed the morning’s activities.

Carrick Swan junior camogie team had their first competitive game on Saturday last when they lined out against Cahir who proved too strong. With more coaching and training this team should improve and we encourage all panel members and those who have yet to recommence camogie activity to attend all organised training sessions.

Last week’s lotto numbers were 9,12,17 & 20. We had no jackpot winner and fifteen match 3 winners each win €20. This week’s jackpot is €4,500 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to support the juvenile lotto.

Our annual Aintree Grand National Sweep again proved most successful this year and we sincerely thank all those who supported and those who promoted. The winning horse Ballabrigs was drawn by the Nolan Family, 64 Collins Park whom we congratulate on their win.

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the families of Ella Treacy, The Quay and Paddy Meagher, St.Mollerans who died during the week.

All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following weeks newspapers.
