Carrick Swan GAA Notes
Carrick Swan senior footballers began their south championship on Sunday last in Kilsheelan where they lined out against Clonmel Commercials. A disappointing display saw us lose out to a better prepared opposing team and vast improvement in preparation and performance will be required in future games in this competition.
Our under 16 footballers began their championship when they played Cahir in Davin Park on Saturday afternoon last where the visitors ran out winners after a close encounter. Our under 14 hurlers play semi-final of Carrigeen astroturf tournament on Monday evening of this week against Glenmore. This team has secured wins over Clonea, Ballyduff and Ballyhale Shamrocks to date and a win in semi-final would see them play St.Marys in final. Report next week.
Carrick Swan club looks forward to participating in this week’s St.Patrick’s Day parade where many of our young boys and girls will proudly march in their club colours. All those participating are asked to attend on The Green at 3.00 p.m. We would appreciate help from club members and parents on the day.
Last week’s lotto numbers were 4, 10, 14 & 21.We had no jackpot winner and nine match 3 winners each win €25. This week’s jackpot is €3,500 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to support the juvenile lotto.
The Aintree Grand National takes place next month and cards for our annual sweep are on display in business premises throughout the town. We thank all those who have supported to date and we encourage members to promote where possible.
Juvenile players are reminded that we have good quality 26’’, 28’’, 30’’ and 32’’ hurleys, some helmets and large selection of gear for sale. Contact juvenile secretary or team mentor to order. We also request members to leave any unwanted helmets into club for use at juvenile training.
The next juvenile disco will take place for Friday 01stApril and all the children can look forward to an enjoyable night under strict supervision.
Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to juvenile officer Mary Barrett on the death of her aunt in Derry this week.
