Carrick Swan GAA Notes – Monday 14thNovember 2011.
Carrick Swan’s under-21 hurling south (B) final is provisionally fixed for next weekend with our opposition, date and venue still to be confirmed at time of writing. We wish the team and their mentors the best of luck.
The final games in our under 13 indoor league took place in the juvenile centre on Friday evening last where some great games were played, the final being decided on penalties, with Jack Kelly captaining the winning team. Our under 12’s have been in action in the Carrigeen astroturf tournament for the past three weeks where they have played some very enjoyable games against Ballygunner, Ballyhale and O’Loughlins.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 10, 21, 22 & 28.We had no jackpot winner – and six match 3 winners who each win €40. Next week’s jackpot is €3,500 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to play our weekly lotto. Entry is €2 and this can be paid to any of our promoters or any committee member.
Carrick Swan’s annual juvenile flag days which were scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday last were deferred as they clashed with collection for The Wheelchair Association. New date in December will be confirmed later.
Carrick Swan club hosted the Tipperary under 14 hurling and football teams on Saturday evening last for presentation from county board. Both these teams achieved notable success during the summer with the footballers winning Munster competition and the hurlers, captained by our own Dean Fitzgerald, winning the Tony Forrestal All-Ireland. Invited guests included club members and friends who have hosted members of underage Tipperary teams down through the years. The county board officers in attendance were fulsome in their praise and thanks to these host families and to the Carrick Swan club. After the event all in attendance enjoyed refreshments prepared and served by our ladies committee whom we sincerely thank.
The annual general meeting of Carrick Swan Hurling Football & Camogie Club will take place on Friday of next week ,25thNovember, at 8.00 p.m. Nomination / proposal forms are available from any committee member if required. They can also be downloaded from our web site.
Many of the club’s hurling players have been active with divisional and county panels in recent weeks. Under 13 players Scott Murphy and Aaron Dunne were part of the recent south Tipperary development panel while under 14’s Tommy McGrath, Shane Torpey, Daniel Walsh, Eric O’Halloran, Jack Cooke and Dean Fitzgerald were also actively involved with divisional squad. Dean & Jack have now joined county development panel. Minors Kieran Lonergan, Mikey Loughman and Colin Loughman have also linked up with county development group while Gerry Walsh is currently training with the senior panel. We congratulate all these players and wish them well over the coming months. We also encourage all our other club players to work on fitness and skill programmes throughout the winter months in preparation for next year’s activities.
