Carrick Swan GAA Notes

Carrick Swan under 14 hurlers have qualified for south (A) championship final following their good win over Moyle Rovers in Monroe last week. This team has played some good hurling to date this year and they can now begin preparations for final which will take place towards the end of the month. We encourage all panel members to attend all training sessions and trial matches in advance of final. Our under 16 hurlers continued their impressive start to championship with a fourth consecutive win last week overcoming Cahir after a good performance. They play Ballybacon on Friday evening of this week in Davin Park in final group game having already qualified for semi-final place. The under- 12 hurling go-games semi-final was played in Kilsheelan on Saturday last where we lined out against St.Marys.  The teams were evenly matched throughout with Swan prevailing by a three point margin at the finish. We play Ballingarry in final. Our under 10 hurlers played enjoyable friendly game in Ballygunner last week and we thank the host club for their hospitality. Carrick Swan under 8 and under 10 camogie teams played blitz in Cahir on Saturday morning last with all the participants having an enjoyable time.

We will welcome the St.Marys (Clonmel) club to The Green on Saturday morning next for under 6, 8 and 10 friendly hurling games. Our clashes with our friends from Clonmel in these age groups each summer are one of the highlights of the year for all these young players. Come along, lend your support and enjoy the activities. Games commence at 11.00 a.m.

Carrick Swan junior footballers were defeated by Ballingarry last week in South Championship with a number of panel members absent for different reasons.  At time of writing Carrick Swan still await confirmation of their south senior hurling championship semi-final replay with Mullinahone.

The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 1, 13, 21 & 23. We had no jackpot winner and three match 3 winners who each win €70. We thank you for your continued support and welcome new entries at any time. Weekly entry fee is €2 which can be paid to any committee member or any of our lotto promoters.

Sponsorship cards for our walk to Faugheen must be returned with remittance this week. Walk will take place on Sunday next 21stAugust (if this date does not clash with match fixture) and will commence at 12.00 noon from training centre.

Congratulations to the Tipperary senior hurlers and their management team on their All-Ireland semi-final success last Sunday and qualification for a mouth-watering clash with Kilkenny on the first Sunday in September in All-Ireland final. We also wish the Tipperary minor footballers the best of luck in their All-Ireland semi-final against Roscommon on Sunday next.

All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following week’s press.
