Carrick Swan GAA Notes

Carrick Swan played further round of south senior hurling championship on Thursday evening of last week when they lined out against Mullinahone in Monroe. This was a game we could have won but having hit many bad wides in first half we left ourselves with too much to do and lost out by a two point margin. Our final two games against Ballybacon and Ballingarry will decide our faith in south championship and with the proper approach and commitment from all involved we would hope that we will not relinquish our south title without a real Carrick Swan effort.

Our minor footballers lost to Ballyporeeen in south semi-final in a game played in Goatenbridge last week. Ballyporeen proved far too strong on the night and we wish them the best of luck in final. The venue for this match was interesting to say the least. Our club does not see many teams travelling to play us in our neighbouring club’s grounds in knock-out stages of any adult or juvenile championship but the same venue selection process does not seem to apply to all.

Carrick Swan under 21 hurlers played St.Pats on Sunday evening and suffered a disappointing loss. Our junior hurlers have scheduled fixture for Friday evening of this week.

Tickets for the Tipperary / Cork first round senior championship game on Sunday 29th May must be ordered by Wednesday of this week. Tickets must be paid for and distributed by Saturday. We also remind supporters that subscriptions for Tipperary draw must be paid before Wednesday of this week.

The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 2,3,20 & 26. We had no jackpot winner and one match three winner received €200 – William Power, 12 Connolly Park. We thank all those who continue to support the weekly lotto. This week’s jackpot is €5,750 and we invite those who have not yet joined up to do so now by contacting any committee member. The funds raised by our lotto have helped finance recent renovations and repairs to our juvenile centre, club rooms and dressing rooms in Davin Park. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the families of Jimmy Ryan, Pearse Square and Bobby Power, Carrick-Beg who died during the week.

All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following week’s press. Our e-mail address for those who might like to send contributions, photographs or any items of interest is carrickswans1929@gmail.com. You can visit our website at www.carrickswan.gaa.ie
