Carrick Swan GAA Note
Carrick Swan senior hurlers played Mullinahone in south championship semi-final on Sunday last in Monroe where the weather conditions were most unkind to all the players in action. Swan played with the aid of the strong wind in the first half and led 1-04 to 0-04 at half time. The second half saw Mullinahone edge out a one point lead entering the closing minute after two dubious refereeing decisions saw them score two pointed frees. Swan however had the final score to earn a deserved draw, 1-09 to 0-12. Hopefully with kinder weather conditions the replay will see both teams in better light. Date and venue to be confirmed.
Carrick Swan minor hurlers had a good win over Ballingarry last week and their next championship game is against Mullinhone on Saturday next in Cloneen at 7.30 p.m. Meanwhile our junior footballers continue their championship when they line out against Killenaule in Kilsheelan on Sunday next at 7.00 p.m.
Activity on the juvenile scene continues to be busy. Our under 12 hurlers entertained Abbeyside (Dungarvan) on The Green on Friday evening last where both teams served up a great game of hurling with some very skilful players on show. Our under 8 hurlers travel to play Ballygunner on Tuesday evening of this week while our under 14 hurlers played Moyle Rovers on The Green on Monday evening (report next week). The under 16 hurling championship commences next week with our opening fixture against St.Marys on Friday in Davin Park. In preparation this team had a good workout against Carrickshock over the weekend.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 2, 8, 15 & 28. We had no jackpot winner and four match three winners each win €50 – C & S Mansfield, Clairin, Tom Russell, Pearse Square, Caroline O’Neill, St.Mollerans and Amy McKenna, Mill Street. We also had five €20 lucky dip winners. This week’s jackpot is €8,000 and look forward to your continued support. Weekly entry is €2.
We are currently carrying out improvement works to both our clubrooms on The Green and our juvenile training centre nearby. These works are necessary in order to provide all our players and visitors with safe and comfortable facilities. We thank those who are working on these projects.
Sponsorship cards for our walk to Faugheen on Sunday 31stJuly have been distributed and we look forward to the participation of all our adult and juvenile players and general membership. Please return cards with remittance as soon as possible, but not later than Saturday 30th.

We also extend our sympathy to the family of the late Elizabeth (Lil) Griffin, Treacy Park who died this week.
