Carrick Swan GAA

Carrick Swan senior hurlers played Killenaule in first round of south championship on Tuesday evening last in Kilsheelan. This was a repeat of last year’s south final and while keenly contested the game did not reach the standard of some of our displays last year. Killenaule held the upper hand early and led at half time 1-05 to 0-04. We battled back in second half and missed some good goal scoring opportunities before finishing strongly to score five unanswered points and secure a deserved draw 0-13 to 1-10. We wish the two Killeanule players who suffered serious accidental injuries in the game speedy recoveries and hope to see them back in action again soon.  Our next game is provisionally fixed for May bank holiday weekend against Davins.

Both our senior and minor footballers were also in championship action over the weekend with the seniors defeating Cahir 2-07 to 0-09 while our minors had another good win over Clonmel Og 2-09 to 1-05.

Both our under 12 and under 14 footballers played games last week. The under 12’s played Moyle Rovers on The Green where both teams played some great football with Moyle Rovers coming out on top. Our under 14’s had a good win in Killenaule in their first championship match of the year.

A number of our underage players have been in action with divisional under 15 and under 16 hurling teams and county under 14 camogie team. In camogie Sarah Connolly and Kerri Robinson were in action while Gavin O’Halloran, Kevin Faulkner, Luke Gahan and Dean Fitzgerald played with the divisional under 15 team in Toomevara. Dale O’Mahony, Dale O’Hanlon, Lee Wall and Sean Dunphy lined out with the under 16 panel.

Last week’s lotto numbers were 5,10, 12 & 17. We had no jackpot winner and eight match 3 winners each win €30. This week’s jackpot is €4,750 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to support the juvenile lotto.

We congratulate former player and current vice president of our club William Lonergan who celebrated his 70th birthday last week end with a large gathering of family and friends.

All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following weeks newspapers.
