Carrick Swan GAA Notes

Carrick Swan club congratulates under age player Scott Murphy who will line out with the Tipperary Primary Schools team in Thurles on Sunday next in mini-game against Cork during the Munster Senior Hurling Championship tie. Scott is one of the most promising players within our under-age section and we wish him well on Sunday and in his future career with Carrick Swan. We also compliment the C.B.S. and their coaches on the continued promotion of Gaelic Games within the school . We also wish the Tipperary senior and intermediate teams the best of luck on Sunday.

Carrick Swan senior footballers play Moyle Rovers on Tuesday 31st May while our senior hurler’s vital championship tie against Ballybacon is scheduled for Sunday 05thJune. Our junior hurlers were in action on Friday evening last against St.Pats who proved too strong for a very young and inexperienced Swan team.

Both our under-12 and under-14 football teams played last week against Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers respectively. The under 12’s had a great game against a very strong Commercials team who came out on top by a two point margin after a great game of football. Our under 14’s were in action on The Green in fourth round of championships where visitors Moyle Rovers proved too strong despite a great second half performance from our team. We play Commercials in final group game on Thursday evening on The Green having already qualified for semi-final. Some of our youngest players played friendly games with Kilsheelan on The Green on Wednesday evening last and they are already asking when they will be playing again. Our under-12 camogie team were also in action during the week entertaining teams from Cahir and Moyle Rovers in blitz. We thank all those who continue to give unselfishly of their time on a continuous basis with our many under-age teams.

Tickets for next Sunday’s game in Thurles should have been collected by now and we hope all those travelling enjoy the day and get the results they hope for. We remind existing and intending Tipperary draw members that subscriptions should be paid this week for new draw commencing soon. Your support is greatly appreciated by club and county alike.

Carrick Swan club will hold its annual sponsored walk on Sunday 31stJuly and we look forward to the participation of many of our adult and juvenile players, members and supporters. The route and timetable will be announced soon and sponsorship cards will be distributed to all interested in participating and supporting our club financially.

Carrick Swan club wishes all players who are completing college exams at present the best of luck and continued success in their chosen studies. We also extend best wishes to the secondary school pupils presently preparing for their junior and leaving cert exams and we look forward to seeing them back in sporting action soon.

The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 8, 17, 18 & 22. We had no jackpot winner and two match three winners each win €100 – Alice Fitzpatrick, Park View and Alice O’Neill, Treacy Park. We thank all those who continue to support the weekly lotto. This week’s jackpot is €6,000 and we invite those who have not yet joined up to do so now by contacting any committee member. The funds raised by our lotto continue to help the juvenile section of our club which caters for over 200 boys and girls between 6 and 16 years of age.
