Carrick Swan GAA 

Carrick Swan senior hurlers played Mount Sion in St.Mollerans tournament on Thursday night last and fielding very much under-strength lost out on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-13 in a very competitive game. Many younger and newer panel members performed well ensuring competition for places for championship due to commence with game against Killenaule on Friday of next week 08thApril. Our senior footballers have fixture against the same opposition on Thursday of this week. Check fixtures page for confirmation.

Our minor footballers played Commercials in (B) championship game on Sunday morning and having led well at half time ended up drawing a game they should have won comfortably.  Our junior hurlers also played tournament game over the weekend while our under 21 hurlers play Portlaw in challenge game this week in preparation for their forthcoming championship.

Carrick Swan under 14 hurlers will play final of Carrigeen astroturf tournament on Sunday evening next at 7.00 p.m. when they line out against St.Marys, Clonmel. We wish them the best of luck in final having defeated Clonea, Ballyduff, Ballyhale Shamrocks and Glenmore to date. This age group will commence their football championship on Monday evening next when they line out against Commercials on The Green and they are also in Feile hurling action against Moyle Rovers next week.  Our under 16 footballers play Moyle Rovers in Monroe on Tuesday evening of this week while the under 12’s also commence their activities this week in new ‘premier games’ football league when they play Kilsheelan on Friday evening on The Green at 6.00 p.m.

A number of our under 14 camogie players have been attending county trials / training in recent weeks performing really well. The players in attendance were Mary B.Stuart, Shauna Hanlon, Sarah Connolly and Kerri Robinson.  We congratulate them and thank those who provided transport each week.

Last week’s lotto numbers were 2, 4, 13 & 18. We had no jackpot winner and six match 3 winners each win €40 – Colin Waters Comeragh View, Karen Diggins Lisadobber, Ned & Cian 58 Ard Mhuire, Breda Dunne 14 Ard Mhuire, Tom Walsh 13 Lisadell and B.Casey 80 Treacy Park. This week’s jackpot is €4,000 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to support the juvenile lotto.

The Aintree Grand National takes place on Saturday 09thApril and cards for our annual sweep on the race must be returned to committee member before Wednesday of next week. We thank all those who have supported to date and we encourage members to promote where possible in the final week.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who were confirmed during the past week. We look forward to seeing you all back in training this week.

Juvenile disco for 8 – 13 year olds takes place on Friday next from 8.00 – 10.30 p.m. We invite all children to attend this strictly supervised event and parents are welcome to view the venue on the night and to talk with juvenile committee members. Those supervising are asked to be in attendance at 7.45 p.m.

Final reminder that all membership subscriptions must be received before 31stMarch to qualify for club membership for the year. Only fully paid up members can apply for inter-county match tickets and all players must have paid full membership before they can line out in games.

All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following weeks newspapers.
