A special thanks to the newest member of our web team, Sarah Maher for compiling this piece. Keep up the good work Sarah!
Earlier today a huge crowd gathered in Carrick Swan Juvenile Hall for our Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Morning. We would like to thank everybody that attended this morning to support a very worthwhile cause. Together we have raised the outstanding amount of €1,326.00.
Childline is a free phone service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for people up to the age of 18. It’s there to help any young person who is going through a tough time or needs to talk to someone. You can talk about whatever you like, and there will be a professional there to listen. They won’t ever give out to you and are always on your side. You can call Childline on 1800 66 66 66.
Childline is a part of the ISPCC (The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) and is funded entirely by the generosity of the Irish public so our support is invaluable. All funds raised today will help Childline volunteers answer more calls to vulnerable children and young people in Ireland who have no where else to turn. Although Childline answered in excess of 800,000 calls in 2012, over 200,000 went unanswered due to lack of funding. The €1,326.00 raised by Carrick Swan GAA Club will help reduce the number of unanswered calls.
