Swan got off to a flyer, scoring 1-01 without reply in the opening 3 minutes. The goal was a brilliant individual effort from Bill Walsh who made a great catch, turned superbly and ran past 4 or 5 St Mary's defenders before rattling the back of the St Mary's net. A massive roar went up and you could sense that it was going to be our day.

Yesterday, our u21 hurlers defeated St Mary's on a scoreline of Carrick Swan 1-15 St Mary's 0-16 to become South u21 'A' Champions.
As the half went on, the Walsh twins were running the St Marys defence ragged and one, or both were involved in the majority of our scores the opening 15 minutes. The score after 16 minutes was Carrick Swan 1-6 St Mary's 0-4.
We were well on top for most of the first half and only for some silly fouling we would have went in at half time further ahead. Half time score: Carrick Swan 1-8 St Mary's 0-8
The second half was the complete opposite of the first half with St Mary's throwing everything at us, from the off.
They leveled in the 53rd minute, Carrick Swan 1-12 St Mary's 0-15 and for a couple of minutes it looked like the favourites were going to snatch it but credit to our boys, we dug deep and got a couple of vital scores to edge us in front.
In the 62nd minute we were 2 points up and St Mary's were attacking. Somehow a St Mary's player was one on one with Kieran Lonergan from 10 yards but Lonergan somehow kept it out. Point blank, dying seconds of the game in a South Final, one on one with one of St Mary's deadliest forwards and probably his most important save, to date. The stuff of dreams!
Noel Cosgrave blew the full time whistle moments later and Swan players, mentors and supporters descended upon the pitch in celebration. Full time score: Carrick Swan 1-15 St Mary's 0-16
The road to the becoming South Champions:
W/O vs Killenaule
Defeated St Mary's with a last minute Colin Waters goal.
Semi Final: Defeated Mullinahone AET.
Final: Defeated St Mary's with a last minute wonder save.
Our u21s give value for money, that's for sure!
Well done to all involved. Winning is a habit and it's a habit the whole club seems to have picked up in 2013, and long may it continue.
2013 South Hurling Titles won by Carrick Swan:
Under 10 'A' Champions
Under 14 'A' South Championship and South Féile Champions
Under 16 'A' Champions
Minor 'A' Champions
Under 21 'A' Champions
Winning the South is great BUT we now need to kick on and add the a County Cup to our list of titles this year. There's two more games to win, for that to happen. The first of which is against that club from the North who we seem to meet every time we get out of the Division, Kilruane MacDonaghs.
Kilruane defeated Burgess in the North u21 'A' Final and looked impressive. We'll need to be at the top of our game to stand a chance of progressing but if we play with the attitude and determination that we did yesterday there's no reason why we can't progress.
U21 CO SEMI FINAL: NEXT SUNDAY, December 8th, South vs North Carrick Swan vs Kilruane MacDonaghs. Time: 2 PM. Venue: Templemore. Lets get up and support the boys!
