Carrick Swan GAA Club pride ourselves on being much more than just a hurling, football & camogie club. We are a club that thrives on community interaction and providing a social outlet for our members.
On Saturday, October 19th between 9-30am and 11-30am Carrick Swan GAA Club will be holding a community breakfast as part of the Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Week in the Carrick Swan Juvenile Hall. All members from u6 to adult are welcome to come along to support a great cause by donating just €3. There will be cereal for the kids and a fry-up for the adults on the day.
There will also be a number of spot prizes on the day thanks to the generosity of local businesses. All proceeds raised on the day will go directly to Childline.
Over the past six years the Breakfast Together Week has become one of the biggest fundraisers for Childline with last year's event raising over €225,000 for the Childline service which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Breakfasts big and small will take place around the country and Childline is encouraging everyone to host or attend a breakfast.
'Childline is the only 24 hour listening support service for children and young people in Ireland" said Ashley Balbirnie CEO of ISPCC. "But 715 calls a day go unanswered and this to us in Childline is terrible fact of life. Every cent raised through this fundraiser will help answer more calls".
Alison Healy from Nestle Cereals said, "The work that Childline and it's volunteers do on a daily basis is truly inspiring. Help us to help them answer every call – simply hold or attend a breakfast or text BREAKFAST to 50300 to donate €2 to Childline. We want everyone to be part of Ireland's biggest breakfast event".
