Congratulations to our U16 Champions:

Carrick Swan under 16 hurlers played Ballybacon in rescheduled south (A) semi-final on Saturday morning last in Monroe.  The preparation for this game was far from ideal with a number of postponements and a number of players unavailable for different reasons. However the team performed well on the day to run out clear cut and convincing winners. Due to circumstances over which we had no control the final was fixed for Sunday morning last in Cahir where we lined out against St.Marys with less than 24 hrs. rest from the previous day’s exertions. This was an evenly contested game from the start, played in extremely difficult conditions, and we held a slender one point lead at half time 0-05 to 0-04. We extended our lead with an early second half goal but tiredness set in which allowed St.Marys draw level with the game in injury time. One last courageous effort saw us land a terrific winning score to secure a well deserved win 1-07 to 0-09. We congratulate this brave team and their mentors on a great win which brings the under 16 (A) championship back to our club for the first time since our three in row 2001, 2002 & 2003.  We wish the team the best of luck in county semi-final against Arravale Rovers with Durlas Og awaiting the winners in final.
