Fixture: WIT vs CIT
Venue: Carriganore Sports Complex, Waterford

Date: Tuesday Feb 12th

The 2013 Fitzgibbon Cup started a couple of weeks back and local college Waterford IT defeated a fancied Carlow IT in their opening game on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-06 in Carlow. This is a competition that the Waterford side have thrived in over the past decade, however they failed to win a match in the last two years. For 2013, Colm Bonnar has been recalled to lead the management team and their fortunes seemed to have changed. Some WIT players to note include Waterford's former All Star Noel Connors, dual star Liam Lawlor, Wayne Hutchinson, Kilkenny's Eoin Murphy, Wexford's Harry Kehoe & Tipperary's Ciarán Haugh (Lorrha/Dorrha) and Mike Sheedy (Portroe).

This coming Tuesday Waterford IT look to book their place in the Quarter Final of the competition and get one step closer to the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend (in GMIT this year) when they play CIT of Cork.

CIT will be strong favourites after getting to last years final but WIT under Bonnar are no pushovers. Some of CIT's County Stars include Lorcan McLoughlin and Jamie Coughlan are both Cork senior hurlers while Ciaran Sheehan is a Cork senior footballer. Nicky Kelly, Michael O’Sullivan and David Drake all have underage experience with Cork and Stephen Daniels is on the Waterford senior team. John Sheedy of Portroe is also on the CIT team.

The Waterford IT team which defeated Carlow is below.
WIT: Stephen O’Keeffe (Waterford); Stephen O’Keeffe (Waterford), Liam Lawlor (Waterford), Noel Connors (Waterford); Ciaran Haugh (Tipperary), Wayne Hutchinson (Waterford), James Dowling (Kilkenny); Luke Harney (Kilkenny), Shane Roche (Waterford); Harry Kehoe (Wexford), Mike Sheedy (Tipperary), Eoin Murphy (Kilkenny); Martin O’Neill (Waterford), Jake Dillon (Waterford), Gavin O’Brien (Waterford).
