Minors Advance To Semi Finals With Win Over Ballingarry

posted 28 Aug 2013, 14:35 by Carrick Swans
Our Minor hurlers travelled to Cloneen tonight knowing that a win would guarantee them a Semi Final place.

Swan started the game well racing into a 4 point lead after 9 minutes. After 23 minutes the scores were level for the first time. Ballingarry 2-02, Carrick Swan 0-08. Swan finished the half stronger and led 0-11 to 2-03 at half time.

Ballingarry started the second half stronger and looked like they were going to take the game to us before Dean Walsh goaled brilliantly in the 41st minute. In typical Ballingarry fashion, they didn't lie down and responded with 2 good points in the next 4 minutes to leave 1 point between the sides with 15  minutes to go.

Over the last quarter of the game our backs got on top and our half backline became a brick wall with nothing passing it. Our forwards kept the scoreboard ticking over and before we knew it we found ourselves well ahead coming into the final minutes.

The full time score was Carrick Swan 1-17 Ballingarry 2-7

Best for Swan on the night were Scott Hogan, Tommy McGrath & Eric O' Halloran in defence while in attack Bill Barret, Luke Gahan and Derek 'Batch' Burrows all hurled well.

Swan play Mullinahone in their final group game which is expected to be played within the next 2 weeks.
