It is with great pleasure that we announce for the sixth time this year that Carrick Swan have qualified for the South Final. In Kilsheelan this afternoon, our Minor hurlers beat Moyle Rovers by one point to reach the final where they'll play Kilsheelan Gaels.

Moyle Rovers scored first in the opening seconds of the match and we responded in the third minute before Rover's raised the first green flag of the day in the fifth minute and another point each within the next three minutes left the score Moyle Rovers 1-02 Carrick Swan 0-02.

It took another eight minutes before the next score of the game but when Swan slotted between the posts in the sixteenth minute, we came to life, scoring 1-04 in the next four minutes to leave the score after twenty minutes Carrick Swan 1-06 Moyle Rovers 1-02. Dean Walsh got the goal for Swan.

It was now Moyle Rovers turn to get on top and they looked to bereeling us in before a super Dale O' Mahony goal in the twenty-sixth minute where he ran 70+ yards with the ball and buried to the back of the net.

Swan went in at half time 2-07 to 1-06 up.

The second half however, didn't exactly go to plan for Swan. It took us twenty three minutes to get our first score of the half, which was a Dean Walsh free to level the game after fifty-three minutes. Carrick Swan 2-08 Moyle Rovers 1-11.

This seemed to spur us back into life as we scored another two points in two minutes through Jack Cooke and Dale O' Hanlon to put us two points up going into the last five minutes of the game.

Moyle Rovers struck next in the sixty-first minute of the game to give them a real chance of getting the draw. Three minutes into injury time, the referee awarded a Moyle Rovers free on the sideline, fifty yards out. If scored, we were going to extra time. The point went agonisingly wide from a Moyle Rovers point of view and we go through to the 2013 South Minor 'A' Hurling Championship where we face a strong Kilsheelan Gaels team who defeated St Mary's in the Semi Final. South Minor A Semi Final (FT) Carrick Swan 2-10 Moyle Rovers 1-12

In the group section Carrick Swan beat Kilsheelan Gaels at ease. However this game will count for nothing in the final and Kilsheelan Gaels results since then have proven how dangerous they are. It is also worth pointing out that Kilsheelan Gales started the group game vs Carrick Swan with just thirteen players, and were well in the game until they lost one of their better hurlers to a red card just before half time. We'll need to up our performance from today to stand any chance of bringing home the Minor cup in the coming weeks as you won't win a South Final by going over twenty minutes without scoring. The main thing today was to qualify for the final, and we did that by showing some great battling skills in the final ten minutes. When other teams would have folded, we stood up to be counted and we can be very satisfied with a lot of today's game.

Well done to all players and the Minor management team. Best of luck in the final!
