On The Field:

posted 14 May 2012, 02:50 by Carrick Swans

Carrick Swan’s minor footballers lost out to Cahir 1-08 to 1-05 in south (B) championship semi-final last week after a close and entertaining game. We compliment the panel of players and team mentors on their determined effort throughout the year to date and now look forward to hurling activities which will commence after leaving certificate exams.

Our senior hurlers played Mullinahone in south championship on Saturday evening last in Kilsheelan where those in attendance enjoyed a most competitive game. Swan played with a strong wind in first half and aided by a first minute goal led 1-06 to 0-04 at half time. Mullinahone got on top early in the second half and led 1-07 to 1-06 inside the first 10 minutes. Swan’s battling qualities then came to the fore and we regained control of the game to lead 1-12 to 1-09 with time almost up. Mullinahone then scored three unanswered points to leave the teams level at full time. This was a much better display than our earlier games in the championship and hopefully further improvement can be attained in advance of our final group game against Davins at the end of the month.

Carrick Swan senior footballers play Cahir on Saturday next 19th and we expect all panel members to make themselves available for this game.
